Frank Kelly – N3FK
I am sitting here listening to my receiver, and there is an emptiness without the presence of N3FK, who left us on Thursday, (August 4th).   If there ever was a regular on 14.300 MHz, Frank was it.  His assistance was great and always appreciated.

Frank was a consummit operator, and he will be sorely missed by all. The number of e-mails expressing our grief at the loss of N3FK has been tremendous!

Thanks to all, and 73 Frank!

Obituary From The Daily Item - August 6, 2005

Francis J. Kelley

COAL TOWNSHIP - Francis James "Frank" Kelley, 69, of 1975 Stetler Drive, died at 3:18 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, 2005, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

He was born Aug. 23, 1935, in Coal Township, a son of the late James Francis and Mary Catherine (McCormick) Kelley.  He was married June 23, 1956, at Stanislaus Church, Shamokin, to the former Barbara A. Lubreski, who survives.

He attended St. Joseph Elementary School, Coal Township, and graduated from St. Edward's High School, Shamokin, in 1953.

Following graduation, he served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict, serving until 1959.

Frank worked for the Central Intelligence Agency from 1960 until 1985, during which time he served in Germany, Guyana, Liberia, Cyprus and Panama.

Following retirement from the CIA, he worked at Mountain View Manor, Coal Township, as chief security officer and assistant administrator.

He also served Northumberland County as chief clerk to the county commissioners.

He was previously a parishioner of St. Michael's Church, Sunbury, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Church, Elysburg, and most recently Our Lady of Hope Church, Coal Township.

Frank was a member of the American Legion, Murrells Inlet, S.C.; the Elks Club, Murrells Inlet; the Loyal Order of the Moose, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; Fourth Degree, Cardinal Mindzenty, Knight of Columbus, Shamokin; Indian Hills Golf Course, Paxinos; a charter member, Ancient Order of Hibernians, Emerald Isle Chapter, County Northumberland.

Frank was a very active member of the A.R.R.L. amateur radio club.  Through amateur radio, he assisted in facilitating the arrangements for young, needy children in Honduras to get medical treatment at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are one son and daughter-in-law, Kevin P. and Tonya Kelley of Warrenton, Va.; one daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Tim Goede, of Harrisburg; one brother and sister-in-law, James P. "Jim" and Joan L. Kelley, of Coal Township; one sister and brother-in-law, Anne "Nancy" and John Stonik, of Hunt Valley, Md.; three sisters-in-law, Regina Kelley, of Coal Township, Maureen Kelley of Pennsauken, N.J., and Geraldine Minai, of North Arlington, N.J.; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Daniel and Catherine Lubreski, of New Freedom; one granddaughter, Heather M. Kelley, of Warrenton, Va.; one grandson, Kevin P, Kelley II, of Warrenton, Va.; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, William J. "Boots" Kelley and Andrew F. "Andy" Kelley.

Visitors may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, with a Wake service at 7 p.m., at the James Kelley Funeral Home, 1001 W. Arch St., Shamokin.  A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Hope Church with the Rev. Adrian Gallagher, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Elysburg.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Helping Hands for Honduras, c/o Father Ron Roll, 3700 Big Ben Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23452.
