Our Mission
The mission of the Intercon Net is three-fold:
- To promote goodwill and friendly relations among radio operators everywhere.
- To handle third party traffic and information between individuals in any country where such traffic handling is permitted by treaty or mutual agreement.
- To provide a means of emergency communications to any location where the normal means are disrupted by local disaster such as fire, earthquake, storms, floods and terrorist activity.
Checking into the net is really quite simple. Tune to 14,300 MHz. Monitor the frequency (to ensure that no emergency traffic is in progress). When the Net Control Station (NCS) asks for check-ins, announce your callsign CLEARLY and PHONETICALLY. The
NCS will then acknowledge your callsign and, in the order that you were heard, ask you to go ahead with your traffic. At this point advise the NCS of your name, QTH and any traffic you may have. If you have no traffic, announce that you are
standing-by to assist with any traffic. You are more that welcome to check-in without traffic and, if you hear a station calling but not being acknowledged by the NCS, please tell the NCS that you have a RELAY.
